The Southern University Jaguars played the Mississippi State Bulldogs tough battling from behind several times in the game.
Southern University was down by as many as 7 points early in the first half but was able to gain a lead of their own. Southern University Jaguars and Mississippi State had multiple lead changes until Mississippi State finished out the half with a 3-point lead 31-28.
Southern University went cold from the field early in the second half allowing Mississippi State to increase their lead to the largest of the game of 12-points midway into the second half. Southern University finally got things going behind Ta’Reon Joseph 27 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 3 steals, and Brandon Davis scoring 12 points 4 rebounds, 2 steals to put the Jaguars ahead 60-59 with 8 seconds left to go in the game.
Mississippi State Hubbard tried to shoot a jump shot that was blocked by Southern University securing the 60-59 win. Mississippi State had two players in double figures Cameron Matthews 12 points, 4 rebounds 2 assists, 1 block and 4 steals and Josh Hubbard had 14 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 1 steal.
