Super Bowl Champion, and NFL Hall Of Famer, Ed Reed is the type of figure that will light up a room especially when he talks about the sport, he loves football—and is known for providing young athletes insight into making the right decision, how to handle the recruiting process, and how seriously to take handling business in the classroom and on and off the field. Always want to give players wisdom and advice on how they can be great if they are willing to put in the work.
Ed Reed sat down with the Pivot podcast discussing various topics. One topic was the comments he made after his abrupt dismissal as the new Bethune Cookman University Head Football Coach in waiting and when it came to former Jackson State Head Football Coach Deion Sanders wanting him to become the new head coach after he moved on to Colorado University to take over the program.
Ed Reed stated he met with Jackson State athletic director Ashley Robinson about the Jackson State Head Coaching position. That position was given to T.C Taylor. Ed Reed also stated he ultimately chose Bethune Cookman because they could use the financial backing Ed Reed looked to bring to the University. Unfortunately, things didn’t go how Ed Reed expected and he and Bethune Cookman went their separate ways.
There are some rumblings about Ed Reed possibly becoming the next head football coach for Grambling State University. While some people feel it would be a good look for Grambling State University to be hired. Others are looking at how things turned out with Bethune Cookman. If this hire does happen, Grambling State must make sure they have all I’s and Ts dotted and crossed to prevent the spectacle that took place between Ed Reed and Bethune Cookman University. Hopefully, Grambling State University can find a head coach soon to take over for the former Head Coach Hue Jackson who was released after losing the Bayou Classic two years in a row amongst other things. Early signing day is here, and Grambling State could lose out on some great recruits and talent in the transfer portal. Hopefully, that is not the case and things will work in the Grambling State Tigers’ favor and a new head coach will be named soon.
