Orangeburg, SC Coach Buddy Pough stood on his word hiring a new Assistant Athletic Director and new Head Football Coach to the South Carolina State Football program.
Coach Pough hired a South Carolina State alumnus Dr. Nathan Cochran to replace him as the Athletic Director for the South Carolina State Bulldogs Athletic program. Dr. Cochran comes to South Carolina State with a vast amount of experience having coached football and track and field at Kentucky State, Paine College, Alma College, North Park University, Avila University, Lincoln University of Missouri, University of Wisconsin-Platteville, and Allen University. Dr. Cochran worked as Assistant Athletic Director at Paine College, Philander Smith College, Xavier University of Louisiana, and Walsh University.
Coach Pough brought in a new Head Football Coach that some would consider a chip off the ole ball coach when it comes to the expectations the Bulldog fans have enjoyed during Coach Pough tenure as the Bulldogs Head Football Coach. Back-to-Back Benedict College SIAC Champion Head Football Coach Chennis Berry was named the new o South Carolina State University Bulldogs football coach with a record of 27-7. Coach Berry lead his Tigers team to the Division 2 playoffs back-to-back seasons. Coach Berry attended and played for Savannah State University. Coach Berry has coach in the SIAC, MEAC and SWACH having with coaching stops at Howard University, North Carolina A&T, Morgan State, Southern University, Morris Brown College, Kentucky State, and Fort Valley State University,
Coach Buddy Pough and the South Carolina State University has knocked these new hires out of the park with the new Athletic Director and the new Head Football Coach and it should be safe to say the bar was raised extremely high and the South Carolina State Bulldog nation has a lot to cheer for now and in the future when it comes to their sports program.
