Daytona Beach, FL. – Missed shots and turnovers were the recipe that allowed Jackson State to generate a 12-point lead at the end of the first quarter. Jackson State was able to increase their lead to 17 points at the end of the first half. The Lady Tigers bench was huge for them in this game allowing the starters to rest while increasing their lead to 22 points in the third quarter.
Jackson State Andriana Avent lead the lady tigers with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block, Miya Crump had 15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 3 steals., Keshuna Luckett had 13 points with 4 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Bethune Cookman had opportunities to cut into the Jackson State lead. The Lady Wildcats found ways to score baskets off the Lady Tigers turnovers. When Bethune Cookman would gain a little momentum to cut further into the Lady Tigers lead, they would go too long without scoring a basket. The Jackson State defense made things uncomfortable for Bethune Cookman players in the paint preventing them from scoring.
