Daytona Beach. Fl – The Wildcats were able to get easy buckets in the paint against the JSU Tigers in this game. Jackson State looked a step slow switching out on the Wildcat players and that could be the reason why Bethune Cookman was able to get out and score fast break points in the game. Bethune Cookman was able to score half of their 82 points in the paint. The Wildcats Zion Harmon for Bethune Cookman showed the Jackson State Tigers that he can create his shot from anywhere on the court especially from behind the three-point line. The Bethune Cookman guard shot 50% shooting three-point shots.
Harmon led the Wildcats scoring 23 points in the game to go along with 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. The Wildcats had four other players that score double digits in the game, Jakobi Heady had 20 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1 block, Reggie Ward had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Derrick Carter-Hollinger Jr had 14 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block.
Bethune Cookman showed Jackson State they had a formidable opponent they were facing on the court tonight with their defensive prowl, forcing Jackson State to play from behind all game because they were able to score easy baskets turning when the Tigers over in the game. Jackson State fell behind by as many as 21 points in the game. Jackson State had opportunities to score but was unable to put the ball in the basket. Frustration was setting in because a few of the Tigers players were looking for the officials to blow the whistle for them being fouled and those calls never came.
Jackson State Ken Evans lead the team in scoring with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal, Coltie Young had 16 points and2 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals. Treyon Johnson led the team in rebounds with 10, to go along with 4 blocks, 1 steal and 7 points. Jackson State came out on the short end of this matchup losing 71-82.
Jackson State will stick around in the state of Florida to play the FAMU Rattlers next and Bethune Cookman plays Alcorn State University.
