FAMU Coach Willie Simmons early recruiting shows he looking to do more than just repeat next season as HBCU NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Tallahassee, FL – Head Coach Willie Simmons and the FAMU Rattlers Coaching staff aren’t wasting time with early recruiting.  The Rattlers are looking to put together a group of talent on the field this upcoming season that will be able to compete four quarters against anyone they line up against next season.

The 2023 HBCU National Champions of the Celebration Bowl will have some stiff competition on their schedule next season.  According to FBSSchedules.com, the Rattlers will play the University of Miami and Troy University.

From the looks of the caliber of athletes that are committing to the FAMU Rattlers Football program, the loss FAMU suffered last season against the University of South Florida 24-38 has not sat too well with the Rattler coaching staff.   Coach Simmons understands beyond a shadow of a doubt that he must have those athletes on the roster who will be able to continue high-level play when the next man up is called.

Looking at what the FAMU Rattlers have been able to do thus far during the early signing period, getting commits from Power 5 programs that were in the transfer portal, will have Rattler fans wondering if Coach Simmons is building his Power 5 program on the highest of 7 hills that will be able to compete with anybody.   The Rattlers have commits that have signed from Florida State DB Demorie Tate,  Clemson TE Sage Ennis, FAU QB Daniel Richardson, and University of Central Florida WR Amari Johnson, to name a few of their new transfer signees.  Next season the FAMU Rattlers will start their season off against Norfolk State University in the MEAC/SWAC Challenge in Atlanta Georgia.
