Rookie sensation Forward/Center Victor Wembanyama lead his San Antonio Spurs team to their second victory over the Phoenix Suns for the second time in three days. In the first meeting the Spurs were down 20 points in that game fought back to secure a 115-114 victory over the Phoenix Suns.
Tonight San Antonio Spurs played some good old-fashion basketball with all of the players on the team touching the ball, generating chemistry that Coach Poppovich teams with David Robinson and Tim Duncan use to have running back door cuts, the give and go to the open player driving to the basket, which lead to easy buckets for the Spurs in the first quarter or game leading the Phoenix Suns by 19 points. Victor Wembanyama lead the Spurs team in scoring posting 38 point 10 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal, 2 blocks and 2 turnovers shooting 15-26 from the field, 3-6 from three and 5-6 from the free throw line.
Victor Wembanyama didn’t do all of the heavy lifting on his own, his Spurs teammates PF Zach Collins had 19 points on the night on 7-10 shooting from the field 3-3 from three point land and 2-2 from the free throw line. Collins help with crashing the boards with 8 rebounds and dished out 4 assist. The Spurs shooting from behind the 3 point line help them build that lead early in the game and never relinquished it, until late in the 4th quarter when the Suns got within a few points, to tie up the game. The Spurs shot 48.6% from behind the three point line shooting 18-37 in the game.
The Phoenix Suns looked a bit confused on the court when the San Antonio Spurs were running up and down the court scoring off back screens, playing fundamental basketball. Phoenix Suns PF Kevin Durant and G Devin Booker both had a great night shooting the ball, but didn’t seem to have enough in the tank to help win his Phoenix Suns team to get this victory. The Phoenix Suns, played so hard to tie the game late in the fourth quarter, only to see the Spurs push the lead back to 11 points. Kevin Durant scored 28 points off 10-15 shooting 3-5 from behind the arc, 5-9 from the free throw line 6 rebounds 1 assist, 2 block shots, Devin Booker, lead all scorers for the Suns with 31 points on 10-19 shooting from the field, 5-7 from behind the three point line, 6-6 from the free throw line, 9 rebounds, 13 assist, The Suns were without Bradley Beal for this game, who should be with the team in the coming days or week to get his season started.
Victor Webanyama and his San Antonio Spors teammates just out worked the Phoenix Suns tonight. They looked as if they were a step behind all night long and they were communicating on the floor. The Phoenix Suns play This will get cleaned up and the Phoenix Suns play the new look Philadelphia Sixers on November 4th, without James Harden who was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. The San Antonio Spurs will play the Toronto Rapturs on Sunday November 5th.
