Aggressive Play Controversy: A’ja Wilson vs Dallas Wings in WNBA Game

Dallas, TX – Congratulations to A’ja Wilson who became the first WNBA player to score 35 points 10 rebounds and 5 steals in a game. Wilson, playing at the top of her game saw a few challenges with the aggressive play on the court against the Dallas Wings.

The aggressive play has been great for the WNBA this season.  While some players have seen their share of foul calls go in their favor A’ja Wilson would have liked for two fouls to her face called in this game.   The game between the Dallas Wings and the Las Vegas Aces, left many of the fans unhinged watching the officials refuse to blow their whistle on two separate occasions when Aces Wilson drove to the basket and was fouled in the face leaving a cut across the bridge of her nose.

The first foul in the second quarter, Wilson took the foul in stride and continued to play.  The second foul in the third quarter Wilson became agitated when she was fouled by the defender who didn’t make a play at the ball.

So many new fans of the WNBA have expressed their frustration at seeing Caitlin Clark being roughed up on the court and feel she should be getting fouls called in her favor.  Unlike Clark who has made her frustrations known in her post-game conferences as well as her actions on the court towards officials, this is a part of the game.

Angel Reese has seen her fair of missed foul calls and was assessed several technical fouls already this season because she let the officials know they are missing calls.  WNBA play has always been physical leaving many people to question will the game get a little softer because of the next generation of players coming into the league.  We will have to wait and see how things turn when it comes to the referees of the WNBA.
