Tuskegee Triumphs Over Clark Atlanta in Key SIAC Matchup

The Lady Panthers of Clark Atlanta University (CAU) inability to find a rhythm shooting the ball in this Southern Athletic Intercollegiate Conference (SIAC) semi-final matchup against Tuskegee University was costly.  The Lady Panthers and the Lady Golden Tigers faced off against one another twice this season, with the Lady Panthers winning both close matchups.  The Lady Golden Tigers Head Coach Wester had her team on the defensive end of the court being feisty preventing the Lady Panthers from getting to their sweet spots to score easy baskets.

The Lady Panthers counted on their SIAC Defensive Player of the Year Corriana Evans to lead the way making her presence in the paint felt against the Lady Golden Tigers front court which wasn’t the case in this semi-final match-up.  Evans scored 14 points and had 8 rebounds, 1 block, and 1 steal.  The Lady Golden Tigers’ Cynaye Bobbitt and Jasmine Manuel fouled out in the game, but the Lady Golden Tigers weren’t to be denied.  The team’s defense made up for their front court players who were out of the game by making defensive plays and grabbing loose rebounds.  The Golden Lady Tigers Hilani Cantone led the team scoring 19 points shooting 2-3 behind the three-point line, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals and SyAnn Holmes had 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.  The Tuskegee Lady Golden Tigers La’Dajah Huguley shot a jump shot with 54 seconds left in the game, increasing their lead to 9 points making the score 57-48 with 44.1 seconds left to go in the 4th quarter.

Clark Atlanta’s Coach Tony Bailey: SIAC Coach of the Year 2024-2025

The Lady Panthers of Clark Atlanta University Trinity Jones was the leading scorer had 17 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals.  The Lady Panthers were able to tie the game 17-17 late in the second quarter with their transition offense having a rough time shooting the ball going 4-18 late into the first half.  Clark Atlanta’s free throw shooting kept the game close in the first half with Tuskegee up 22-21 at the half.  The Lady Panthers losing their cool and inability to make baskets allowed the Tuskegee Golden Tigers to walk away with the win heading into the SIAC Championship game to face off against Miles College Saturday 3/8/25.
