Parents are willing to go to the furthest extreme to position their children to have the best opportunity to be successful sports athletes. Now that Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) have players looking to cash in on their playmaking ability, parents are looking for anyone or anything that will push their athlete to the front of the line. Some parents have an idea how much their child enjoys playing a sport after they get the best trainers, go to the top-of-the-line prospect camps only to find out their athletes haven’t been tested to see how they will respond when adversity happens and choose to stop playing that sport. Then there are the athletes willing to go the extra mile, get the most from the training, and go to the extremes to be successful because they want an opportunity to play college sports at a Power 4 program.
We can all agree that Power 4 sports will require athletes to be more polished to compete at a higher level for an opportunity to play for big-name college sports programs. Colorado Buffs football player Mantrez Walker’s father Malcolm Walker was arrested on March 3rd for theft by deception. Walker portrays he allegedly could help aspiring high school football players gain college football scholarships with his help by getting his film to college coaches and recruiters. According to FOX5 Atlanta Walker was arrested on March 3rd by Gainesville Police based on a complaint by Phyllip Beacoats who says he paid more than $1,000 to Walker to take them on a trip to Colorado to meet with coaches and recruiters.
