The city of Atlanta has been hosting the Celebration Bowl since 2015. Looking at the success of the celebration bowl and how fans turn out for the FCS Div I HBCU National Championship game, the leadership of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) know it only made good business sense to host the game in Atlanta GA. Looking at the turnout of HBCU football fans from all over to participate being apart of Celebration Bowl hosted by cricket wireless each year, had the leaders take a serious look into making such a strong move of having the game in Atlanta GA with five out of thirteen teams in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and most of the other school in the conference are within driving distance to be apart of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship experience.
The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) is making major moves before the season started changing up the format to decide who will play in the championship game, to bolstering up the product on the football field when it comes to officiating their football games, by partnering with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) officiating alliance.
This year SIAC Championship game will be played at Lakewood Stadium in Atlanta GA on November 11, 2023. The question is which two teams will be playing in this year championship game since they did away with East and West divisions. The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) decided to go with their new 4-4-2 scheduling model that will have the two top teams in the conference with the best regular season record squaring off against one another to see who will the 2023 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Football Champion.
