The SIAC was formed in 1913 and is apart of the NCAA Division II level sports. The SIAC is a HBCU Conference known as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference that has done something groundbreaking to improve their football games on the field. The SIAC has partnered with the Atlantic Collegiate Conference (ACC), who has a officiating group that trains officials called the Atlantic Collegiate Football Officiating Alliance (ACFOA) that was created in 2018 and has several conferences that are apart of the Athletic Collegiate Football Officiating Alliance (ACFOA), consisting of the Patroit League, Ohio Valley Conference (OVO), Ivy League, Coastal Athletics Association (CAA), Big South, Atlantic Collegiate Conference, and Northeast Conference (NEC).
The SIAC and joining the Athletic Collegiate Football Officiating Alliance (ACFOA) is a strong move by SIAC Commissioner Anthony Hamilton. The ACC Commissioner Dr. James J Phillips providing the SIAC an opportunity to get their football officials trained who has a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will go along way with how the games are being referred week in and week out. SIAC Commissioner Anthony Hamilton understands the value of the SIAC conference, making sure he protects the officiating integrity of the football games being played within the conference. One can only imaging how many calls, complaints or film clips of plays are sent to his office showing possible missed calls on the field that may have caused the outcome of a pivotal game to go in a different direction because of improper officiating.
The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) being apart of the Athletic Collegiate Football Officiating Alliance (ACFOA), will have a designated person who from the ACFOA evaluate and grade how the games were officiated each week and provide feedback to the head coaches within the SIAC, to address any questions or concerns .
