Birmingham, Al – As the saying goes with hard work comes great rewards. When people look to fulfill their dreams without hard work, they may fall short of the finish line. Dr. Charles McClelland has been with the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) since 2018. Since arriving in 2018 Dr. Charles McClelland has worked hard to make sure the SWAC has more visibility and opportunities to continuously grow.
In part Dr. McClelland was able to get SWAC sports more media visibility through ESPN and HBCU GO networks, adding two teams to the SWAC conference in 2021 Bethune Cookman University and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), and his latest accomplishment of being named the vice chair of the Men’s Basketball Committee for Division 1. The SWAC Commissioner Dr. Charles McClelland has been given a contract extension that will go through to the end of the academic school year of 2032.
