The first time head coach had a rough time in his inaugural season going 1-9. The team played there first six games on the road. Two of those games were against Howard University who they played in Washington DC and in state rival Albany State University in East Rutherford New Jersey in HBCU NYC Football Classic game. Playing in those two profile games would explain why the Maroon Tigers only had two home games for the season.
