The Lady Hornets of Alabama State didn’t have an easy time tonight against the University of Alabama Lady Crimson Tide women’s basketball team. The Lady Hornets found themselves playing from behind in this game against the Lady Crimson Tide leading 28-10 at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Hornets were plagued with turnovers in the game which they had 32 to the Lady Crimson Tide 9. The Crimson Tide was able to score 33 points off the Lady Hornets’ turnovers in this game.
Alabama State Lady Hornets found themselves further behind in the game at the half 45-16, unable to score any points for over 4 minutes.
There were a few bright spots in this game for the Lady Hornets. The Lady Hornets were able to score 20 points in the paint and had 7 blocks to the Lady Crimson Tide’s 4. Shmya Ward of the Lady Hornets led the way with 2 blocks, and 4 assists and was the leading scorer on the Lady Hornets team, scoring 13 points.
The Lady Hornets came out after halftime keeping pace with the Lady Crimson Tide outscoring them 10 -8 midway through the third quarter, showing they were down in this game but not out. The Lady Hornets let the Lady Crimson Tide know they were going to continue to compete until the game was over. The Crimson Tide lead continued to grow with the final score of 93-39 University of Alabama Lady Crimson Tide winning.
