Miles College vs. Alabama State: Historic Win Propels Golden Bears

This game started off slow, because both teams were trying to find their offensive identity. Both teams inability to move the down the field left both teams waiting for the other opposing team to make a mistake that would possibly give them a short field to work from leading to their first points of the game. Well Alabama State didn’t have to wait too much longer. Miles College offense began to get into a rhythm and as the golden bears was getting closer to the redzone, Miles College quaterback Edwin Kleinpeter threw a interception leading to a pick six for the Hornets to get on the scoreboard first in this game.

Alabama State went on to increase there lead when hornets quarterback D. Davis threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Kisean Johnson, increasing lead 14-0. Miles College scored a touchdown right before the half on a touchdown pass from quarterback Edwin Kleinpeter to Jaih Andrews cutting the hornets lead in half, 14-7. Looking forward to the adjustments both teams would make at halftime, it seem the hornets was able get their offense moving scoring a field goal on their opening drive in the third quarter. After the hornets increased their lead to ten with the score being 17-7 it seems both teams offense went back to being stagnant once again

These two teams have played one another 4 times since 2015, and Miles College have come up short each time. Today wasn’t the day Coach Shade Miles College Golden Bears was going to be denied. The golden bears scratched and clawed in the fourth quarter scoring 14 unanswered points on two rushing touchdowns by Jonero Scott on their way to their first win against an FCS opponent. Let’s see how this win propels Miles College Golden Bears in the coming weeks against SIAC opponents.
