Miami, FL – The 2024-2025 NCAA Football season is a little over a month away and athletes all over the country are preparing for this upcoming season, especially those who are looking to go in the 2025 NFL Draft. Players who take their craft seriously make sure they link up with position specialists to sharpen their tools for when they arrive back on their college campus, they are ahead of the game and ready to compete when the summer/fall practice season starts.
Quarterback Coach Darrell Colbert of Select QB Athletics has three top tier quarterbacks he’s training on a hot summer day in Miami Florida, Shedeur Sanders of Colorado University and former Washington State Quarterback who transferred to the University of Miami Cameron Ward and Kyron Drones Virginia Tech Quarterback.
The three quarterbacks were seen doing their quarterback drills with Ward letting Sanders and Drones know if they were not taking care of business during the training session. You could hear Ward tell Drones he threw a good ball and Drones thought Ward was trying to talk down to the Hokie quarterback, but Drones wasn’t having any of it, because he stayed focused on the task at hand continuing to throw accurate passes. Funny thing is Ward and Drones are cousins so you can only imagine how they are when they are not on the football field competing against opposing teams and talking smack about each others game.
When it came to Sanders, Ward let the quarterback know he wasn’t taking the session seriously and needed to focus on why he was there and not wanting to hurry up to go watch the fireworks on the yacht. You can hear Ward telling Sanders that he is playing games with his ball placement during the drills. Sanders responded with “he has a little Patrick Mahomes in him.” Watching these two quarterbacks via well off media you could see there was some strong friendly competition between the two, from who had the better stats, to who threw more go balls. Sanders and Ward faced off against one another last season when Ward Washington State team beat Colorado 56-14.
Sanders Colorado Buffalo team schedule starts off with North Dakota State and then their Big 12 schedule begins. Ward Miami Hurricane team and Drones Virginia tech team are both in the ACC and the cousins will face off head-to-head against one another on September 27th. The bragging rights between these two-family members will be epic for a long time for which ever quarterback comes out as the victor after that game.
The competition between Sanders and Ward is just heating up, since this is their last season before declaring for the NFL draft, and they won’t be facing off against one another unless their teams play against one another in a bowl game. Which quarterback between Ward and Sanders will throw for the most yards this upcoming season? We will have to wait and see how things will play out once the 2024-2025 season concludes.
