Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, and Perkins Drama: NBA Playoffs and Beyond

Boston, MA – The Boston Celtics are up in the NBA series 1-0 against the Dallas Mavericks and look to get their second win tonight 6/9 when they play in TD Garden.  The Celtics could break their tie with the Los Angeles Lakers of winning 17 NBA Championship trophies for their storied programs.

Lebron James was heard on his podcast giving former teammate Kyrie Irving his flowers praising how the ballplayer has grown as a ball player to be in the current position he is in to win a championship for the Dallas Mavericks.  Instead of applauding James for his positive compliments of Irving saying he hates they are no longer running mates to win a championship together, Perkins took exception to what James had to say by insinuating he wants the Finals to be about him and he’s mad he and his team are at home because they lost to the Denver Nuggets in the first round.

It seems like changing the narratives and ridiculing James is at an even higher tune since before he entered the NBA and it won’t slow down anytime soon with his career coming to an end.  Right now, the Lakers are looking for a new head coach, his son Bronny James is staying in the NBA draft and his podcast with JJ Reddick called Mind The Game has kept sports analysts talking outside of the slanted Caitlin Clark discussions about her being targeted by the WNBA players on the court.

Watching how Perkins has changed his stance toward James over the past few months would cause James to cause for pause and unfollow Perkins on social media.  The Celtics won game one against the Mavericks and feel-good thinking they will win game two.  Basketball fans have watched the Celtics fall short in game 2’s against the Miami Heat and Clevland Cavalier playoff series.  If the Celtics drop game two tonight hopefully Perkins will have a cool booty because James’ former running mate will make it his duty to reinforce to his Mavericks teammates that they are going home for 2 games and can beat them in front of their crowd.

The last thing Perkins wanted to do was give former Celtic Irving more ammunition to come out and take it to his former team to tie up the series., while giving his former teammate James more reason to talk about Irving transcending into the ball player that so many expected him to be early on in his career.
