FAMU Rattlers Win SWAC East Division and Eye SWAC Championship | Game Recap

The FAMU Rattlers football program is use to BRAGGIN a little different when it comes to winning championships.  Winning championships in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), and a  FCS 1-AA National title and is one game away from winning the SWAC East Division Championship.  Only one team stood in the way of that happening and that was the Prairie View A&M Panthers who was looking to spoil the rattlers homecoming.

Prairie View coming off a 30-0 loss to Houston Christian University in the Southland conference the week prior was looking to keep their aspirations high on getting back into the winning column against FAMU, and looking to possibly win the SWAC West Division Championship.  FAMU jumped out to a 14 point lead in the first quarter from a Terrell Jennings rushing touchdown, and Jeremy Moussa throwing a touchdown pass to Jeremy Dixon.

Quarterback Trazon Connley led his Prairie View Panther team down the field to score their first 7 points of the game in the second quarter, on a touchdown pass to Trejon Spiller.  The Rattlers lead was cut in half, with PVAM having  an opportunity to build on there momentum when FAMU Quarterback Jeremy Moussa threw a interception trying to complete a pass thrown in double coverage.   PVAM defensive back DeJuan Lewis intercepted the pass giving PVAM an opportunity to put additional points on the board.

Unfortunately,  PVAM offense inability to move the ball down the field allowed FAMU to increase there lead.  The three interceptions thrown by PVAM Quarterback Trazon Connley, further helped FAMU to increase there lead from the turnovers.  Baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. was able to witness his son, Tevin Griffey snag one of the three interceptions PVAM QB Trazon Connley threw in the game along with defensive back Jalen Glaze.  FAMU Rattlers QB Jeremy Moussa threw the ball 25 times completing 14 for 272 yards 3 touchdown passes and 1 interception.  The recipients of Moussa three touchdown passes was Jah’Marae Sheread who lead the rattlers in receiving with 4 receptions for 76 yards, and Nicholas Dixon and Jeremiah Pruitte. The Rattles rushed the ball as a team for 181 yards, on 29 carries averaging 6.2 yards per carry with Kelvin Dean and Terrell Jennings both scoring rushing touchdowns with Jaquez Yant leading the team in rushing with 9 rushes for 63 yards.

PVAM Quarterback Trazon Connley threw the ball 24 times completing 9 for 93 yards 1 touchdown with 3 sacks. The panthers rushed the ball 42 times for 127 yards averaging 3.0 yards per carry.  Trejon Spiller had 4 receptions for 54 yards and 1 touchdown.  Prairie View A&M suffered there second tough loss in the past two weeks and move onto play the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff who suffered a loss to Jackson State University.  The SWAC East Division Champions will play Alabama A&M next week who suffered a loss to Alabama State in the Magic City Classic.  If FAMU wins against Alabama A&M next week get read to hear the Rattler Bragg a little but more because the SWAC Championship game will be held at Bragg stadium.
