Benedict College wasted no time in this game scoring a touchdown on there opening possession of the game going up 7-0 on a touchdown pass from Aeneas Dennis to Jalen Jones. The SIAC champions were looking to impose there will on Savannah State early on in this game, but Savannah State reminded themselves of the defensive battle they had with Benedict College last year in the first half of that game. Savannah State gain the lead midway through the second quarter mixing up the run and passing game against Benedict College with Jadon Adams calling his own number to run the ball and threw 2 touchdown passes to Savannah State receivers with the score being 10-17 before Benedict College scored right before the half to tie the game 17-17 .
Benedict College no stranger when it comes to being in a dog fight in a game, made the necessary adjustments at halftime and Savannah State Coach Kelton understood if Savannah State wants to beat the champs they must play mistake free football. Benedict College receives the opening kickoff to start the second half of the game and Benedict College Deondra Duehart made a house call returning the opening kickoff to start the second half for a touchdown. Benedict College wasn’t done the defense led by Joshua Barker and Loobert Denelus decided to turn up the heat a little bit causing Savannah State to punt the ball back to Benedict which they drive down the field scoring another touchdown. Savannah State down 14 points try to open up the offense and quarterback Jaden Adams throws an interception. Benedict College turns that drive into another touchdown, scoring 21 points in the 3rd quarter putting this game out of reach.
