Benedict College Football team came into the game last week against Savannah State University ranked 5th by the American Football Coaches Association National Poll. Coach Berry and the Benedict College football team remained undefeated after beating in conference rival Savannah State University Football team 38-17, increasing their overall record to 9-0, conference record 7-0 securing their spot in the SIAC Championship game presented by Cricket.
The NCAA has created there first Region Football Rankings for Division II Collegiate football program. In the Region Football Rankings for Division II Benedict College was ranked #1 with there undefeated overall and conference record. Some other notable HBCU football teams were ranked in the top 10 region 2 rankings was Fayetteville State University (CIAA) ranked 7th, Fort Valley State University (SIAC) ranked 9th and Virginia State University (CIAA) ranked 10th. That is pretty impressive to see four HBCU football programs land on the first NCAA Region Football Rankings for Division II Collegiate football programs.
