The Coach Vick era has kicked off and things aren’t going the way Coach Vick has envisioned. The Spartan coaching staff have a few things they can build off going into the second half of the game. The offensive front must find a way to prevent the holding penalties that resulted in a touchdown just before the end of the first half of the game. The Spartans have 5 penalties for 48 yards in the first half.
Coach Vick Spartan has shown they can hold their own on the field against Towson University once the quarterback change to Kuhns was made. The Spartans offense was a bit stagnant and predictable in the first quarter of the game.
Coach Vick saw the flow of his offense changed after the quarterback’s change, bringing Kuhns into the game, who was able to move the offense down the field. Hopfully, the Spartans can build off the confidence Coach Vick has in the team. Down 13 points in the 2nd quarter, the Spartans went for it on their 20-yard line on a 4th and 1, converted on a quarterback keeper by Kuhns.
Kuhns was able to throw a pass to Kendric to get their 2nd first down of the game. The Spartans went for a conversion on 4th down a second time and converted on a Kuhns toss to a Spartan receiver. The Spartans tried a third time and was unsuccessful turnin the ball over on downs.
The Hornets were able to force Towson into a three-and-out. The Spartans started their offensive drive with 2:48 left before halftime. Norfolk State quarterback Kuhns had the offense moving down the field to score a touchdown behind a pass interference call on Towson University. On the ensuing play, Norfolk State quarterback Kuhns threw a touchdown pass that was called back due to a holding penalty. The Spartans attempted a field goal before the half that was blocked.
Coach Vick’s first half of college football didn’t start off the way he expected, but he saw growth with his team to build from in the second half of the game down 13-0.
