Atlanta Falcons Aim to Rebound Against Washington Commanders

The Atlanta Falcons hope to get their offense back on the right track this week against the Washington Commanders.  Several key offensive players were limited or out this week in practice and could miss the game against the Commanders.  Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney and Jamal Agnew missed Thursday’s practice. Falcons Tight End Kyle Pitts, who is dealing with a toe injury, practiced Thursday, so hopefully he is back on the field this Sunday.

Falcon fans hope their team comes into this game agitated against the Commander after being shut out by the Carolina Panthers, after last week’s 30-0 loss.  The Falcons’ inability to reach the red zone  in the game led to them being shut out, even though they had multiple opportunities to kick a field goal to score points.

Field goal kicking has become a touchy topic with the Falcons after they released their former kicker, Younghoe Koo, due to a decline in his performance last season.  Koo was with the Falcons organization over the past 7 seasons.  He missed a critical game-tying field goal in week 1 against the Tampa Buccaneers, which led to him being benched in week 2 and released the week leading up to the Carolina Panthers football game.  Koo, for his career with the Falcons, kicked  211 field goals, successfully making 181.

The Falcons’ newly signed field goal kicker, Parker Romo, went 2 for 2 against the Minnesota Vikings in the week 2 win, but missed two field goals in the Carolina Panthers game.  The Falcons must find a way to limit the turnovers and the missed opportunities to score points this week against the Commanders if they want to get to 2-2 for the season.  The Falcons are at home against the Washington Commanders, which should give the team more motivation to get the win.
