Bronny James: Seizing Opportunities and Redefining NBA Legacy

Los Angeles, CA – The world was mesmerized when LaVar Ball spoke into existence that his sons would be drafted to the NBA.  There wasn’t a sports station or news outlet that couldn’t resist having the opportunity to talk with the father of three, to get a bigger glimpse of the possibility of seeing all three of his sons getting the opportunity to play in the NBA.  The day came when the oldest son Lonzo Ball was drafted by the Lakers in 2017 first round, second pick.  The second oldest LiAngelo Ball didn’t get drafted because of the off-the-court issue he had overseas while playing with UCLA when the team went to China.  Then LaMelo Ball was drafted in 2020 with the third pick in the first round by the Charlotte Hornets.

Seeing the joy on LaVar Ball’s face hearing his son’s name being called and walking across the stage is a feeling that many of us would never understand.  Fast forward four years and the all-time leading scorer, four-time NBA Champion, who is the GREATEST TO EVER DO IT, was dubbed the CHOSEN One, whose life has been chronicled for the world to see before he played his first NBA game Lebron James, said in 2013 that he would love to have the opportunity to play alongside his son Lebron Bronny James Jr.

The time has come and fathers like LaVar Ball and Lebron James aren’t spoken about much when it comes to being fathers to their children. Bronny James has a living example of how to navigate through all the noise and confusion while climbing to the top is something Lebron James has been able to do very well.  Making sure Bronny never got caught up in the chaos with him being picked for the McDonald All-American game when others felt a few other players should have been picked over him.  Looking over the list of players that were selected they didn’t all have stats that would jump out at a coach right away.  Each player had different storylines that haven’t been told but because Bronny James is Lebron James son there is an issue.  Bronny James came out of Sierra Canyon High School, ranked 20th according to ESPN’s top 100 high school basketball players.

Watching this young man persevere through the health scare he had when he first got to USC and getting himself on the court to play, there is an issue because his stats don’t match up to what others feel they should be.  While people complain about nepotism, understand this happens every day at people’s regular jobs and those who applied for the position that someone’s child in the company didn’t deserve because they didn’t qualify doesn’t mean they can’t learn the job and be effective doing it.

Bronny James will make the most out of this opportunity to play alongside his dad, making history and continuing a legacy of playing and representing the James Gang in the NBA.  There is something that must be said for people to understand and that is we all are given opportunities to do more and get more than where we currently are in life.  The question is what did we do with the opportunity?  One thing is for certain, Bronny James will take this opportunity and maximize beyond any of our wildest dreams.
