Chicago, IL — The Chicago Sky started the game the same way they ended it going scoreless over long stretches in the first and fourth quarters. The Sky was up five points in the fourth quarter but came up short to secure the win against the Minnesota Lynx who is number one in the Western Conference.
One of the biggest highlights of the game was seeing Angel Reese passing another WNBA great former Los Angeles Sparks Candace Parker who set the single-season double-doubles record with nine straight in 2015. Reese had a rough outing scoring points in the game and coming very close to tying Parker eight-year-old record. Reese scored ten points and grabbed sixteen rebounds in the game. Reese looked at times like she had exerted a lot of energy crashing the offensive and defensive boards, but the double-doubles machine found a way to keep pressing forward to keep the streak alive.
Angel Reese had four points at the half and scored her tenth point late in the fourth quarter when she was fouled and sent to the free throw line making one for two.
The Sky basketball team found themselves having a rough time making shoots which allowed the Lynx to get back into the game. The Sky held onto a five-point lead at the half, which they were able to hold onto partially through the fourth quarter. The Lynx saw the Sky players were a bit exhausted, because of the fouls they were able to get them to send the Lynx players to the free-throw line to score points. Kayla McBridge was able to take advantage of making those free throws to put her team up by three points with less than two minutes left in the game. McBridge went to the free throw line several more times helping to extend the Lynx lead which was enough to seal the game.
Angel Reese was able to keep her double-doubles streak alive extending it to ten consecutive. The Sky will need to get a win against the Atlanta Dream tonight. Currently, the Sky is fifth in the Eastern Conference and can’t afford to continue losing games that may keep them from getting into the playoffs.
