Indianapolis, IN – Round two of the season matchups between Caitlin Clark vs Angel Reese playing against each other in the WNBA. Today’s matchup between the Indiana Fever vs Chicago Sky would be an interesting one to watch. Both teams came out looking to assert themselves, with the Fever coming out on top as the victor. Caitlin Clark started slow scoring in the game but found her rhythm scoring 23 points 8 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 block shots. While Clark was trying to get her shooting groove going on the court, she was able to find teammates open in the paint from backdoor cuts to score easy baskets. Clark’s ability to find Fever teammates Alayah Boston and Nalyssa Smith in the paint for easy scores kept the pressure on the Sky defense all game. Boston scored 19 points 14 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 block shots to go with Smith 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 block shots. At one point in the game, the Sky was outscored in the paint 10-2.
This could be due to Sky Cardoso and Reese both being in foul trouble that prevented them from keeping the Fever out of the paint. At one point Caitlin Clark drove to the basket and was hit in the head, by Angel Reese making a basketball play on the ball and being assessed a flagrant one foul. Reese’s foul on Clark already has social media bussing wanting harsher penalties to be assessed to Reese.
There were several fouls throughout the game that weren’t called. One was the elbow Caitlin Clark threw an elbow to the throat of the Sky player who was guarding her. In the end, the Sky fell short getting the win, however, Angel Resse was able to keep her double-double streak going scoring 11 points to go along with 13 rebounds and Kamilla Cardoso had 10 points with 10 rebounds. The Sky falls to the Fever 91-83. These two teams will play against one another for the third time on June 23, 2024.
