Columbia, SC. — Tonight’s game between Albany State and Allen University was a game of two halves. The Golden Rams had an early lead in the game. The Yellow Jackets defense forced the Golden Rams to turn over the ball and miss point-blank shots that were contested at the basket. The Golden Rams were down 18 points at the end of the first half.
The Golden Rams came out in the second half looking to cut into the Yellow Jackets lead but continued to exchange baskets. The Yellow Jacket defense kicked in keeping the Golden Rams from scoring a point and watched the lead increase to over 20 points in the game.
The Golden Rams didn’t go without a fight cutting into the Yellow Jackets’ lead late into the second half of the game, cutting it down to 2 points behind Blaise Wallace collecting 18 rebounds in the game to go along with 7 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal, along with the leading scorer Shakir Poteat with 17 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, and 1 block, Jamir Moore had 9 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.
The Yellow Jackets had two players scoring double digits in the game Tyriq McAdoo with 12 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals, Talton Jones, had 11 points, 2 rebounds 1 assist, and 1 steal, while Malik Lacewell had 9 points, 1 block and 1 steal. The Golden Rams were able to force the Yellow Jackets into turning the ball over in the second half allowing them an opportunity to get out of Columbia South Carolina with the win. The Yellow Jackets were able to hold on to win the game 58-63.
