Tuscaloosa, Al – Head Coach Nick Saban has decided to call it a career after being a Head Football Coach for 28 seasons. Throughout those 28 seasons, coach Saban has seen the NCAA Football landscape shift in many directions based on how athletes can be recruited, the way defenses scheme to play the game, recruiting rule changes, transfer portal, NCAA College Football playoffs, and now players making money off their name, image, and likeness.
During that time Coach Saban won seven National Championships his first was at LSU in 2010, spent a few years in the NFL as a Head Football Coach and coordinator, and ended his career with the University of Alabama winning 10 SEC Championships and 6 more National Championships.
Coach Saban amassed a record of 274-67-1 during that time and has always been able to secure the necessary recruits to come into his Crimson Tide program to continue dominating NCAA Football for many years. Coach Sabin had fans around the world screaming roll tide roll on Saturday afternoons when Alabama University played games.
The competitive nature of Coach Saban will truly be missed. One thing that became apparent was the way athletes were being recruited and not to mention most athletes in this day and age are unable to deal with harsh in-face coaching.
Coach Sabin winning his last national championship in 2020, hasn’t been able to secure the athletes into the program like he once was because athletes are choosing to play in other collegiate football programs to beat Coach Saban’s University of Alabama Football teams. Coach Sabin will be missed on the sidelines with his facial expressions when one of his players makes a mistake on the field that may have been costly to the team folding his arms, and looking at the position coach as if he was saying get it together.
Coach Sabin is what some would call a throwback coach, who has adjusted to the rules of the game as they continue to change, but the love and passion that many of the players he’s coached in the past have for the game aren’t in today’s athletes. Today athletes care more about their likes, big plays they made on the field, and not the plays the team made to win the game.
As coach Saban goes off into the sunset he will truly be missed. He was able to put the time and dedication into the details of the game to continue winning every year.
