Javonnie Gibson: Future Opportunities After Transfer Announcement

The landscape of college football has changed drastically with athletes looking for better opportunities to compete and be recognized for their hard work and effort on the field.  The transfer portal opens in less than two weeks for the winter on Dec 9th and closes on Dec 28th, players are preparing themselves to enter hoping other programs recruit them.

The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff (UAPB) wide receiver Javonnie Gibson, a transfer from the University of Arkansas Monticello as a redshirt sophomore has decided a change in atmosphere is needed and has entered the transfer portal.  The UAPB leading wide receiver announced on his x formally known as Twitter account that he will be entering the transfer portal, stating “New Beginnings and more opportunities”.

Gibson shouldn’t have any issue being recruited by another program based on his physical stature, play, and athleticism on the field showcasing his talents as an outstanding wide receiver for the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions last season.  Gibson is currently ranked #1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) in 12 games catching 70 passes for 1215 yards, and 9 touchdowns averaging 101.25 yards per game.  When comparing Gibson’s wide receiver stats to the wide receivers competing in the FCS(Football Championship Subdivision)  and FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) conferences,  he is the #2 ranked wide receiver in FCS football behind Efton Chism III from Eastern Washington University and ranked 4th amongst wide receivers playing for power 4 football programs in the FBS.
