Jackson State Head Women Basketball Coach Tomekia Reed is heading into her fourth season coaching the Lady Tigers, and look to complete the drill that was derailed last season when the Lady Tigers lost to Southern University in the SWAC Tournament 64-65. Coach Reed has been named Coach of the Year 2020, 2022, and 2023, not to mention won the regular SWAC Season Championship 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 with a conference record of 17-1. Coach Reed has the lady tigers playing some tough competition prior to playing games within the conference to see how they stack up against opposing teams, to get a real feel of how her teams react in crucial moments, especially when the game is on the line. Preparing the team for those big moments so when they have those kind of moments during the season, the lady tigers can handle things without them being to big of a task to complete.

Last season the Jackson State Lady Tigers beat Big12 opponent Texas Tech in Lubbock Texas 69-63, proving to many doubters that an HBCU sports program can compete on a higher level. Always making sure her team is never too comfortable, look forward to Coach Reed making sure the Lady Tigers are prepared to play four quarters of basketball from start to finish.
The loss the Lady Tigers suffered by Southern University last season in the SWAC Conference tournament has left a bad taste in these ladies mouth and they are looking to redeem themselves. Coach Reed will have these young ladies ready to compete and they will be motivated to climb that mountain to get back on top in the SWAC and compete in the NCAA Women Basketball Tournament. The first test will start against LeMoyne-Owen College on November 7th at Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.
