Coach Vickers Takes Charge at Auburn: Players Follow

The news of BoxtoRow HBCU Coach of the Year, Coach Larry Vickers moving on from Norfolk State University to Auburn University as the New Head Women’s Basketball Coach left a few of his former players wanting to follow their coach to his new destination.  Two players that played on Vickers three Norfolk State University Mideastern Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship teams want to finish out their collegiate basketball career with their coach. 

Kierra Wheeler forward transferred from Daytona State College, playing in 21 games averaged 12.4 points per game, 8.2 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, 1.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game shooting 49% from the field transferred to Norfolk State University in 2021 from Daytona College was a part of all three championship teams that Coach Vickers coached.

Coach Prime’s Impact on College Football Revenue Solutions

Anjanae Richardson guard came to the Norfolk State Women’s Basketball program from Manor High School averaged 9.7 points per game, 2.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.4 steals averaging 38% percent from the field last season was a part of the last two MEAC Women Basketball Championships. 

Coach Vickers adding these two players to the Auburn University Women’s Basketball team who the Lady Spartans beat 63-57 this past season, will have more players looking to join his program hoping to turn the Lady Tigers program around making them into a true competitor.  Coach Vickers ability to show the world that he can keep a Power 4 team back against the wall with a mid-major program will peak the interest of players who has intentions of entering the transfer portal knocking at his door to get things moving in the right direction.
