Keaton wins first game of the season as Clark Atlanta University Head Coach
Fort Valley, GA – Clark Atlanta University Panthers football had not beaten Fort Valley State University since 2018, when they won 21-19. Coach Keaton and the CAU Panthers came into Fort Valley, with their confidence showing they wouldn’t be denied and had no plans on continuing the ongoing losing streak from last season with this game being their 11th straight loss.
Coach Keaton wasted no time showing his team that he and the Panthers Coaching staff had faith in their athletes when the head coach gambled on a 4th and 22 late in the third quarter after having several miscommunications converting on 4th down earlier in the game for a first down. On the ensuing play, Clark Atlanta Panthers David Wright threw one of his seven touchdown passes in the game to Armone Harris who caught two touchdown passes for the day.

Fort Valley defensive backs looked exhausted and unable to locate passes thrown to the Panther’s receivers throughout the game. CAU defensive back Dahlil Wilkins took advantage of FVSU Wildcats quarterback Kelvin Durham throwing miscues, intercepting two passes giving the CAU offense extra scoring opportunities to put points on the scoreboard.
FVSU Wildcats Kelvin Durham threw the ball 32 times completing 19 passes for 210 yards 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. David Wright led the CAU offense to scoring 19 unanswered points.
FVSU Head Coach Gibbs Wildcats team found themselves in a deep hole in the fourth quarter even though they scored 14 unanswered points, wasn’t enough to secure the win. Coach Keaton and CAU secured their first win of the season behind David Wright throwing the ball 31 times completing 23 for 423 yards and 7 touchdowns and was sacked 2 times in the game.
Head Coach Keaton and his Clark Atlanta University Panthers football team face off against his former program Allen University next week at CAU Panther Stadium on the new red turf at 2:00 pm
