Lions’ Rushing Attack Overwhelms Ravens Defense

The Lions’ relentless defense kept the Baltimore rushing game under wraps, stopping Derrick Henry 3 times inside the five-yard line in the first half and forcing him to fumble the ball for the second time this season.  Henry rushed the ball 12 times for 50 yards, 1 touchdown. 

The Detroit Lions’ offense fed off the defense’s aggressive play, making impactful plays at crucial moments of the game.  The Lions needed to convert on a 4th and 2 late in the fourth quarter to secure the win.  Coach Campbell trusted quarterback Jared Goff to throw a pass to Armon-Ra St.Brown for 20 yards to secure the win.  St.Brown caught 7 passes for 77 yards and 1 touchdown.

To the Lions’ dismay, the Ravens had all of their time outs stopped the clock, forcing the Lions to keep playing.  On the ensuing play, Montgomery rushed the ball 31 yards for a Lions touchdown, increasing the lead to 14 points with under 1:40 left in the game.   The Ravens defense is known for their rush-stopping ability, allowing the Lions to rush the ball 38 times for 224 yards and 4 touchdowns.  David Montgomery rushed the ball 12 times for 151 yards, 2 touchdowns, and Jamhyr Gibbs had 22 rushes for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Goff completed 20 out of 28 for 202 yards with 1 touchdown. 

The Ravens drop to 1-2, face off against Kansas City, and the Lions, 2-1 will play the Cleveland Browns.
